Ash Rucker is a Brooklyn-based performance artist whose work merges ritual, ceremony, dance, and song into immersive, participatory acts of healing. Rooted in improvisation and guided by spirit, her performances are multisensory journeys where movement and voice become vessels for catharsis and freedom. What begins as deeply personal healing expands into a communal, interactive experience: audiences are invited to sing, move, breathe, and write prayers, co-creating sacred spaces of reflection, release, and transformation.
Born from her own journey of grief and renewal through her brother’s addiction and incarceration, Rucker’s practice seeks to liberate the body from trauma and reconnect people to their essence. Through her nonprofit TherapART, she extends this work to youth impacted by the criminal justice system, blending art therapy with somatic and creative practices. Across museums, galleries, and community spaces, Rucker channels performance as embodied prayer and collective ritual—an offering of inspiration, empowerment, and awakening.
In addition to her performance work, she is also a movement director, collaborating with clients through music, energy, and improvisation to draw out the most liberated version of themselves.
